the final chosen material for this part is PC, for better transparent sake.

*Part size: 38.72 x 39.76 x 4mm

*Tooling layout: 1x2 cavities

*This little plate is part of a fixture a patient has in his mouth during X-ray check of the teeth and surrounding bones. The plate itself is not visible in the X-ray image. But there are little (black) balls placed into holes of the plate. These balls are made out of a material which is visible in X-ray and they are used as exact position marks (references) in the whole process of machining tooth inlets. The X-ray images are used as basic dimension information for all further processes. Diameter of these balls and accurate placement of them in the x and y coordinates is very critical. As lower as the tolerances during this X-ray “measurement” will be as better as final result at the end of tooth inlet machining process.

The balls are jammed in their holes by little vertical micro ribs (in 3x120 deg distance and of about 0,1mm height) inside of hole. All balls are hold in position even when you flip the plate to opposite side. Logo on one side only make it more clear for all users of these plates know which sides are top and bottom of the plate. Top side is the one from where balls will be put into holes and there should be logo too.
